New post! New post! New post! No election advertisement renders me as ecstatic as a new post by a newsletter like this one!
It is kind of lamentable what the Democratic Party (and by extension, modern conception of leftism)'s turned into. I say this too often, it really has shifted from a pro-worker/labor/people ethos to vapid culture war pedantry that can only alienate others. Why is there such a need for these folks to create cringeworthy "real men vote Harris" propaganda? I wonder what happens when you dismiss a sizable portion of your voter base as "Bernie bros"... they really disavowed any badass Che Guevara / Occupy Wall Street connotations! Not saying that they were infallible, no one ever is, but I think it's curious that the Democratic Party's now trying to artificially pander to the dudes. I say this often, but heck, New Atheism (not really a conservative movement) could encompass people of all stripes, but now it's all been subverted.
I'm also unsure as to whether it's even possible for one's ego to effectively be equivocated with the state of the country, or even whether Trump really believes in his rhetoric, as opposed to cynically wielding it with the intent of rousing a voter base. Would it be likely that he could speedrun four years and still "we made America great again" at the end of it? Not saying he would, I just think a very strong ego that tries to preserve itself encourages post-hoc rationalizations... but I'm likely in over my head.
Admittedly, I've only witnessed the '16 and '20 elections, and I wasn't a based Greenwald / Wikileaks frequenter, so some of the premises in the musings are a bit lost on me--such as the emphasis on why Hillary's rule would've been worse (or even different) from Trump's. Well... apart from how they screwed over Sanders in the primary (and he's still endorsing them)! One possible counterexample to all politicians being narcissists with massive egos: Ron Paul? :P
Great stuff as always! Yeah, Ron Paul is the freaking man. Good call. Kind of funny how a Libertarian, the group most associated with this kind of Randian/Bioshock rugged individualism and ego, is actually the least narcissistic politician in ages haha. (It actually makes a lot of sense through another lens, just taking the easy joke.)
As for why Hillary would have been worse, I feel pretty confident on that one haha. 1) I highly suspect we would have seen at least one major military conflict breakout under her that we did not see under War Dove Donnie, not that he was perfect in that realm either. 2) She herself has openly opined about civil or criminal charges to deter the dreaded “misinformation” peddlers, and I have no doubt the Draconian censorship we saw in recent years would have been even worse with her at the helm. Remember: this is the woman who branded Tulsi Gabbard a Russian spy and who said the point of 1984 is that people should trust the government haha 3) We’d still have Roe, which I detest because as much as I hate idea of government having a say in anyone’s body, I hate the wanton, often eugenic, genocide of tens of millions of helpless babies more. I believe future generations will look back on it with baffled disgust similarly to how we view slavery today. 4) We’d still be in the TPP, which was a losing deal for the US… and many moooooore. I know Trump OK’d Operation Warp Speed and other catastrophes, but I still feel like the riots and the lockdowns and the Globalist powergrab of that era would have been significantly worse under Hills.
Just a few points off the top of my head though! Again, so much quality your replies I always feel like I am leaving dozens of interesting threads hanging, but I have to head out in a moment, so forgive the (relative) brevity! :D
Edit: Real quick, also spot on about the DNC's sick/risible gender-pandering PR stunts in trying to assemble some "League of Extraordinary Simps and Cucks" haha
I saw your response 25 mins after you posted it, but had to go to class; I did get pretty close to touching grass..."
Edit: League of Extraordinary Simps and Cucks" is priceless! I know dudes who've supported Harris, but even they were horrified at the Harris ads that have gone viral.
Holy crap, I knew Hillary said her share of stupid stuff ("violent video games increase violence as much as lead exposure decreases IQ"), but that 1984 comment seems like it came straight out of, well, 1984 (then again, these bozos only ever read Handmaid's Tale anyways)!
Yeah, Trump was significantly more isolationist than Clinton; of course, it's important to note that he has a *lot* of pitfalls too in that regard, but for some reason it pisses me off more when the ostensibly blue-collar and "for the people" party does the same stuff. On lockdowns, I actually lived in a place where they were for almost two years, and I still feel like Greta saying "you stole my dreams and my childhood, how dare you!", lol. Sure, I was ("was?" press x to doubt) still an uncool loser back then, but there were things to look forward to, and the hypocrisy of "my body my choice" NPCs with the quarantine issue disillusioned me to no end--pontificating about your loss of "reproductive rights" (aren't thought-terminating euphemisms nice?) when some of the best years of an adolescent's life had become off-limits? Give me a break, and on that note...
Couldn't agree more on Roe! It wasn't even a sensical precedent (right to privacy is pretty nebulous if there's an actual person involved), but it's one of those issues where it's difficult to express one's honest opinion without massive social cost; I remember my reaction the first time I heard of abortion, and I was flabbergasted because of the ending of human life, not misogyny. Even if I've become more indecisive over the years, I still resonate with the pro-life view, and I was *not* grieving the Dobbs decision haha (though a large part of it was vindication for the pro-quarantine losers). Crazy how it's become a sacrament of the modern left, but you've already graciously read (and restacked, thank you!) my set of ramblings on that topic haha. It's also super refreshing to talk to someone who's pro-life but not due to strong religious considerations alone; nothing wrong with the latter, but goodness it can often be isolating--can I have my Downward Spiral album *and* not "love abortion", pleaseeeeee?
Sorry that this was so digressional! I always enjoy these conversations, even if I'm guilty that I'm getting the better deal. It also assuages me from my pessimism about the future hahahaha.
Great post! Couldn’t agree more with your musings regarding Trump and the Democrats overall view of him. You’re right… always better to vote for the guy who…not only has a stake in, but actually cares about what goes on in his country!
Thank you, my friend! As I always say, it is a wonderful day here at the Temple whenever we find you've kindly taken the time to give us a read and leave a comment. I am glad you enjoyed the article! These are strange days--as we've both lamented for years now haha--but I am glad if my meandering, madcap musings can provide some entertainment and perhaps a unique postulation or two. I feel like, at this point, other countries must view the U.S. as that one house in the neighborhood where the couple living there is always having a shouting match at 2 a.m. while their kids wail in the background. But (if this isn't all theater, which it could be) we are at yet another crossroads. Any thoughts on how things may look in the near future, in the U.S. or in Australia?

Sorry for the long ramblings, enjoyed the read!

Quorum and legitimacy are the reasons we are pushed so hard to vote.
Without those two things, the "Democracy" does not exist.
How we were ever sold the idea that mob rules is the best political system is beyond me.
I look forward to the day we realize we don't need rulers ruling us.
"Law and Order," is the panacea of the weak and fearful, and the tool of the elite.
