Putting the politics aside, Memorial Day offers us a day to remember those that were taken away forever. It is Honorable to remember the fallen but likewise we should pay tribute to their kin. Death is eternal but the families suffer for a lifetime.
They don’t call it a “theatre of war” for nothing. In a way, post war is a little like the Academy Awards... certain high level military brass are celebrated and decorated with all manner of ornaments representing courage, valour and service to the nation. It’s only the poor grunts, those lowly paid extras who follow direction and lose their lives in the muddy fields of battle who never get a second take.

❝We must be in a position to respond to every act of opposition by war with the neighbors of that country which dares to oppose us: but if these neighbors should also venture to stand collectively together against us, then we must offer resistance by a universal war.❞
Reflective and thoughtful article about America's military role in the world. As I see it, the problem with US foreign policy over the past 30 years is that we keep picking the wrong enemies. Maybe we should have partnered with people like Saddam, Gaddafi, Assad, Putin, and Yasser Arafat against the international menace of jihadism we see today. Another great article!
I have no problem with gay people having a hootenanny, but I agree that as a matter of national interest it seems to me that spending a month--with nonstop political, corporate, and MSM pandering--tossing rainbows on stuff and celebrating where people put their private parts seems a bit disproportionate compared to a day or two for veterans, whom our government otherwise largely abandons to homelessness, poverty, and physical/mental illness while rushing to gift another billion dollars to Nazis in Ukraine.

Well said.
Brother this was so well done and spot on. I hope it gets spread far and wide.

"Theater of war," indeed! I love the Academy Award analogy, as the prophet James Hetfield said: "You know it's sad but true."
